Boys and girls ages two and older with mom /dad or another adult
Short stories, poetry and nursery rhymes introduce dance to boys and girls as they learn movement games, simple dances, and rhythmically explore basic dance movements. This class prepares children to work independently in the next level without an adult.

Introduction to Dance...
Boys and Girls ages 3 to 4

Exploring movement and dance through a variety of activities that develop locomotive skills, flexibility, coordination and balance. Musical rhythms,children's literature, paintings and drawing are introduced leading to explorations in creative dance.

EXPLORING DANCE...Boys and Girls in Kindergarten
This class is especially designed for children who are in kindergarten and have had previous experience with dance. They are not merely learning ìdancesî taught by others, but capably demonstrating their knowledge of dance concepts to create their own dances. They explore ballet, contemporary and jazz music with appropriate styles of dance. This is a challenging class for children who are ready to learn a lot.

 

Boys Can Dance...A special program for boys ages 4 through 8

Creative Dance I
Boys and Girls ages 4 to 6

Exploring elements of dance: space, shape, rhythm and the flow of energy, the children dance about stories and ideas that stretch the imagination, develop creative expression and self-confidence. Dance at this level included simplified folk dance steps and introduces various forms of dance. This provides an excellent foundation for further dance studies.

Creative Dance II
Boys and Girls ages 6 to 8
(First and Second Grades only)

Basic modern dance skills and basic ballet vocabulary improves students coordination, strength and ability to move safely, easily and gracefully. Classes offer more structure and technique while continuing to develop creative skills through improvisation and compositional dance studies to prepare students for technique classes. This level introduces dance notation, exciting symbols that guide dancers through an in-depth exploration of concepts such as rotation, direction, elevation, balance, dynamics, extension and flexion. At this age students may be ready to show their movement studies to parents, friends and relatives in informal performances.
